Terms of use

MishMash is publicly funded, and what it publishes is meant to be used again. These are the terms, in plain language. The communication strategy sets them out for members.

Text

The text on this site is licensed CC BY 4.0. You may copy it, change it, translate it and share it, for any purpose, as long as you say that it comes from MishMash and link back. This includes using the text to train AI systems, on the same condition: attribution.

Code

The code that builds the site, in the repository on GitHub, is under the MIT licence: scripts, layouts, stylesheets, JavaScript and the interface themes. Libraries under site/assets/js/lib/ keep their own licences.

Data

The data files the site makes itself, such as the events, the projects, the tags and the results list as it is compiled here, are released under CC0: no rights reserved. Facts pulled from NVA, ORCID and Wikipedia keep the terms of their source, which is named at the bottom of each page.

Images

Photographs and illustrations carry their own terms, stated where they appear: the photographer, the licence and, where people are shown, that they agreed. Event photographs are CC BY where that was agreed with the photographer beforehand. Portraits of people in the directory, the logos of partner institutions and the logo of the Research Council of Norway belong to their owners. They are not covered by the site licence, and they may not be used to train AI systems.

People

The directory shows professional facts about members: name, role, affiliation, identifiers and the links they chose. This is personal data, not licensed content. The privacy notice says what is shown, where it comes from, and how a person has it changed or removed.

Material from others

Videos from YouTube, sounds from Freesound, objects from heritage collections and other embedded material keep the terms of their source, shown where they appear.

For machines

The same terms are stated for crawlers: the text is open, and the reservation for portraits and logos is declared in the form the EU directive on copyright in the digital single market provides for, at /.well-known/tdmrep.json and in the pages concerned. A short description for language models is at /llms.txt.
