Artificial Intelligence and the Legal Protection of Personal Characteristics
Summary
This PhD project investigates artificial intelligence and the legal protection of personal characteristics. It examines whether existing legal frameworks provide sufficient and predictable protection for individuals whose voice, likeness, artistic expression or other identity-forming features are imitated by artificial intelligence. The research is situated at the intersection of copyright law, personality rights and emerging AI regulation. The project aims to clarify relevant legal principles in Norwegian and international law, and to discuss possible legal developments where the current framework remains fragmented or uncertain.
