Copyright and Personality Rights in the AI Era
Summary
This legal research investigates the risks generative AI poses to performers, specifically regarding the unauthorized use of recordings for model training and the creation of imitations mimicking a performer’s voice or appearance. The study analyzes Nordic Supreme Court decisions to identify the structure and scope of protection for personal identity expressions. By comparing Nordic and European law with the American system, the project aims to determine if new regulations are necessary to sustainably protect performers’ contributions in the digital age.
