Re-fragmenting Schøyen: AI-assisted Mapping and Analysis of an Antiquities Network
Summary
ReFrag uses AI-assisted OCR/HTR, natural language processing, and knowledge-graph methods to document, map, and analyse the archives of the Schøyen Collection, which were donated to the Oslo Cathedral School Library together with substantial portions of the manuscript and artefact collection in 2023. Through an Actor-Network Theory framework, the project creates a searchable, provenance-aware knowledge graph linking actors, artefacts, and events, alongside an openly documented digital workflow. The seed funding expedites the first of four planned phases: digitising the archive and creating a publicly accessible database linking the objects in the collection with the documents in the archive. External partner: Ernst Bjerke (Oslo Cathedral School, librarian/curator).
