Picturemarks
Summary
Picturemarks is a human-engaged computing platform for visual media mining, annotation, and digital storytelling, allowing users, curators, artists, researchers, and cultural institutions to collect, browse, annotate, and visualize large image collections. The seed project extends the prototype with AI-driven features — semantic image clustering, AI tagging for automated theme and metadata generation, and generative captioning — designed to keep the human curator in control. Structured usability studies with cultural practitioners assess how AI integration affects creative agency and workflow satisfaction, and new data portrait formats communicate collection-level AI insights for cultural sector audiences. Partners include the National Library of Norway, Kunstsilo, the University of Bergen, and OsloMet.
