AI as Environment
Summary
This initiative focuses on developing a new interdisciplinary research programme at the intersection of contemporary art, artistic research, artificial intelligence, and cultural infrastructures. At the core, is a delegation visit to the 2026 Venice Biennale, which offers a strong international setting for the project’s ambitions. The visit investigates how AI increasingly functions as an environment within which artistic practice, cultural institutions, and knowledge production operate, with particular attention to artistic responses to AI and computational infrastructures, emerging artistic research methodologies, and opportunities for collaboration across artistic research, AI, and cultural heritage. Expected outcomes include a shared analytical report, strengthened collaboration across MishMash partners, new international contacts, and a concept note supporting future Horizon Europe and other externally funded research applications.
